Colorado PERA will begin seeking candidates on January 4, 2021, for its May 2021 Board of Trustees Election.

PERA will hold an election from May 1 to May 31, 2021, for four seats on its 16-member volunteer Board of Trustees. Voting will be available via phone, web or paper ballot. The following seats will be elected in May:

  • Two School Division seats
  • One State Division seat
  • One Retiree seat (must be a retiree from the School, Local Government, or Judicial Divisions)

Each Trustee seat represents a four-year term.

Candidates who are interested in running can begin the candidate application process starting on January 4, 2021, by sending an email to election@copera.org and requesting a candidate information packet. Requests for a candidate information packet should include the candidate’s name, PERA Division of membership, mailing address, email address, and daytime telephone number. State Division members must also indicate whether they are a participant in the PERA Defined Benefit or Defined Contribution plan. The application process will end on March 1, 2021.

Candidates will be subject to a background check.

The Board of Trustees meets at least five times per year and is responsible for adopting the rules and policies for the administration of PERA. Elected Board members serve without pay, but are reimbursed for necessary expenses.
